Tells you the level of ammonia in your tank. Ammonia is a toxic chemical excreted by living things as waste. It's the most common reason for a tank "crash." Normal filtration removes this toxin from the water, but if there is not enough beneficial bacteria in the tank or there are too many animals in it, the ammonia level can build to toxic levels. The device is color coded and gives real-time ammonia levels so you can leave it in your tank to give continuous readings. Jellyfish can tolerate ammonia levels higher than almost all fish, but if your ammonia meter indicates anything other than the lowest level, you should perform a 25% water change. Do one water change per day until the ammonia level is undetectable again.
