1. Rinse gravel

2. Rinse filter
3. Cover tank bottom in gravel no higher than top of filter holder
4. Lock filter into bubble tube
5. Lock filter into bottom of tank

6. Cover gravel and filter with a layer of glass marbles.  Make sure top outer edge of filter cartridge is covered in marbles.
(These protect the jellyfish from the coarse gravel.  The water intake is along the top edge of the cartridge and jellyfish can get sucked in if it is left exposed see diagram.)

7. Plug airline tube into air pump
8. Set heater to 77 degrees and stick to inside of tank to be completely submerged

If you make your own saltwater from filtered water, follow 9A - 9C to make your own saltwater.  Otherwise skip steps 9A - 9C and buy pre-mixed salt water from a local aquarium store for about $1/gallon (be sure to bring your own jugs or buy them there).  Do not make salt water from tap water that has not passed through a RO (Reverse Osmosis) filter.  You can buy RO-filtered water or distilled water from your local fish store or grocery store.

9A. Fill tank with fresh water to even with top of bubble tube

9B. Add 1/2 cup aquarium salt per gallon of water.  The Desktop Tank holds 7 gallons of water.
9C. It is OK if the salt settles.  Running the pump will help mix it.
10. Plug light, pump and heater into electrical outlet
11. After 12 hours, verify temperature is between 75 and 79 degrees Fahrenheit and salinity is between 1.024 and 1.028.  Adjust heater and add more salt or fresh water as needed.

Now your tank is ready for jellyfish!  Return to JellyfishArt.com to order Desktop Moon Jellyfish and Frozen Food, which are shipped via overnight delivery.
